Our Target Teaching Literacy and Numeracy Blocks commence in Week 4 of Term 1 and continue throughout the school year.
Throughout Weeks 1-3 of Term 1 Classroom Teachers collect a range of data on their children through a variety of sources including PAT Testing, Phonological Awareness Screening, 1st Years of School Literacy Assessment, previous NAPLAN Data, Reading Running Records, Anecdotal Records and conversations with children's previous teachers.
Teaching Staff and our School Leadership Team analyse the data and place children accordingly as part of our Literacy and Numeracy blocks run across the school Monday-Thursday. Classroom Teachers, Co-educators (Curriculum ESOs) and Leadership Team members are placed strategically as a part of Literacy and Numeracy Blocks to support small groups of children meet specific learning outcomes according to their learning needs.
Children move across and between year levels and classes during these times. Learning within each group is targeted specifically at the needs of each group and its members. Data is continually collected and analysed throughout the year with children moving between and across groups as their individual needs change.
